Shelbey S. Roberts is an award-winning storyteller and passionate writer who has been captivating audiences with her news anchoring, reporting, production style and voiceover work since 2011. Shelbey found her love of broadcast journalism as a student at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. There, she learned the fundamentals of community-focused journalism as news reporter and producer for the campus' student-run television station, WOLV-TV.
Currently, Shelbey serves as the dynamic morning anchor of Live 5 News (WCSC) in Charleston, SC. Previously, she has worked in Myrtle Beach, SC, Savannah, GA and Central Illinois. Most notably, Shelbey’s journalism contributed to a team Emmy nomination, a prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for “Excellence in Diversity Equity and Inclusion”, awards for “Best TV Anchor” and “Best Multicultural Reach” from the Illinois Broadcasters Association and she was named one of Peoria Magazine’s “40 Leaders Under Forty”.
Service is at the core of Shelbey’s character as an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In her spare time, she regularly serves as a reading tutor, youth mentor and food bank volunteer.
Shelbey’s signature smile signals the warmth and care that she exudes while connecting with others to learn more about them and the world around her.
