Shelbey S. Roberts is an award-winning writer and storyteller who has been developing her skills in news anchoring, reporting and production since 2011. During her four years studying at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Shelbey found her love of broadcast journalism as an award-winning news reporter and producer for the campus' student-run television station, WOLV-TV.
Throughout her professional news career, Shelbey has worked in Myrtle Beach, SC, Savannah, GA and Central Illinois. Most notably, Shelbey earned an Emmy nomination, a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for “Excellence in Diversity Equity and Inclusion”, the “Best TV Anchor”, “Best Multicultural Reach” awards from the Illinois Broadcasters Association, and was named one of Peoria Magazine’s “40 Leaders Under Forty”.
Currently, Shelbey serves as the dynamic morning anchor of Live 5 News (WCSC) in Charleston, SC. She’s also part of the investigative team working to hold those in leadership accountable and providing a platform for the overlooked and unheard voices of marginalized communities.
Shelbey is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In her spare time, she regularly serves as a reading tutor, youth mentor and food bank volunteer.
While keeping with her signature smile, Shelbey enjoys connecting with others in an effort to learn more about them and the world around her.
